I am pleased to announce that Peter Kessler has agreed to accept the role of President for The Stamford Paramedic Association, Local 684. As you are all aware my agreement to take on the presidency at the time was out of necessity for its survival and ultimate success of our Local. And was with the understanding that at some point I would be passing the gavel to a successor when the right people were in place and the time was right. We accomplished a lot together and brought stability to SPA.
That time has come where my time and focus is needed in two other areas- first setting up our peer support team which is almost complete, and second developing a benevolent society under the wings of the local. With Pete as our President we will surely accomplish that. I have 100% confidence in Pete, Mike, John, Rob and PJ. All have the character and fortitude to continue our mission with the honor and the uncompromising integrity it requires.
We went through a very tumultuous time with constant Executive Board changes. I could not have accomplished all that we did without Pete, John Demaio, Daschle, Mike, Rob and Brian’s hard work as my sounding board. Success in leadership is much more likely when you surround yourself with advisors smarter than yourself whose skills and talents complement your own. They stepped up at a very difficult time.
Thanks also need to go to Daschel, JK, Stephen Clark, Bob Smith, Justin Socha, Izzy and Bob Voss for their work on our behalf. Pete brings an enormous wealth of experience and knowledge to our organization. His precision and expert execution in that is the same as his storied paramedicine. His work as Chief Steward and VP has always been exact, precise, thoughtful and forward thinking. Pete has an outstanding recall of the proud history of the SPA and a very positive, progressive vision for our future. He will always be THE guardian of our collective interests.
As I always say and have said- all of you are truly the best of the best. There is a lot of spirit, pride, and hundreds of years of experience in our EMTs and Paramedics. Together there is nothing beyond our grasp. Continue on that road- a road to greatness. While there is still work to do and challenges ahead we are well on our way. Please give Pete and his team the same support and vigor you gave me during my tenure- I know that they will do great things here!
With that said my role will transition over the next few weeks to focus on the two projects elucidated above and will all was be filled with pride in what we do – every day- for the citizens and guests of Stamford. A task that is proudly accomplished with the best of the best in our brothers and sisters at Stamford PD and Stamford Fire Rescue.
Continue on our road to greatness and Stay Safe Always!!
